THE MIGRANT TRAIL ALONG THE ROUTE TO THE USA
The Darién Gap is a daunting barrier along one of the world’s most treacherous migration paths. This remote and roadless crossing lies between Colombia and Panama, spanning over sixty miles of lush rainforest, rugged mountains, and expansive swamplands. It is the sole land route connecting Central and South America, making it a popular choice for migrants seeking employment and security in the United States. As other routes by air and sea have faced increased enforcement, the Darién Gap has emerged as a primary transit point for those looking to journey.
JOE BIDEN CALLS TO SURGE THE BORDER
The ultimate destination for most migrants is the southern U.S. border, where they are seeking asylum from the Joe Biden administration. After Joe Biden reversed all of President Trump’s immigration laws, the mass invasion began. As you remember, he told everyone to come to the USA during a presidential debate. Biden said at the first Democratic primary debate for the 2020 election:
“What I would do as president is several more things, I would in fact make sure that there is… We immediately surge to the border, all those people who are seeking asylum.”
In the early months of 2021, following Biden’s election, a surge of economic migrants from Haiti, Venezuela, Ecuador, and other countries turned to using the dangerous Darien Gap jungle trail as a means for crossing from South America into Central America. Once they make it through the treacherous terrain, these migrants then make their way up to the border where Mayorkas has allowed them entry into the United States, taking over housing and jobs that Americans previously occupied. Sadly, according to numerous witnesses, many have perished during the grueling seven-day journey through the mountains, rivers, and jungles along the trail.
